Carine Fabritius is a visual artist known for the vibrant, colorful nature of her work. Her mediums include installation art, photographs, textile works, and new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and augmented reality. Fabritius brings an experimental approach to traditional handicraft, constantly seeking new ways and materials to merge old textile techniques with contemporary art.
In her installations, Fabritius explores the relationship between large and small-scale space and incorporates moving image and sound art. She is interested in virtual spaces and the interface between mediums, and uses AI and AR to experiment with new forms of making art and finding new platforms for exhibiting her work. Her photography features miniature scenes that are transformed through long exposure and light techniques into surreal, emotional fantasy images.
Fabritius received her MFA from the Department of Time and Space at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 2017 and currently lives and works in Helsinki, Finland.
