Carine Fabritius (b. 1978) is a visual artist and a photographer who is known for the rich colorful vividness of her works. She works with installation art, photographs, moving image and textile works.
Fabritius has an experimental approach to traditional handicraft, finding new ways and materials to connect old textile techniques with contemporary art. In her installations she explores big and small scale space while connecting moving image and sound art to them. In photography, Fabritius builds miniature scenes in her studio which transform through long exposure and light techniques into realistic and emotional fantasy still images barely crossing the dream threshold. She doesn’t use photo manipulation in her photographs.
Fabritius graduated MFA from the Department of Time and space at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 2017. She is currently living and working in Helsinki, Finland.
